iRunner is a fun, side-scrolling arcade game that requires players to run, jump, and slide through levels, collecting batteries and avoiding hazards that can injure Mr. i.
The gameplay in iRunner is simple: run without dying through levels. Strangely enough, iRunner quickly becomes a game based around quick reflexes to jump or double jump over obstacles or slide to collect the numerous batteries for points in each level.
Playing iRunner on a tablet is more enjoyable with the wider aspect ratio and distance between jump and slide controls. Since players only use two buttons, iRunner has a tendency to throw a lot at once.
The cartoon style that iRunner uses is perfect for the presentation of the game, not taking itself too seriously and allowing for a lot of action on screen.
iRunner is an a game that hits the sweet spot of simplicity and gameplay. There might not be a lot of content besides the main campaign, but with a global leaderboard and challenge mode players will see just how good others are and can try their luck with becoming one of the top iRunner players.
iRunner might feel too simple, but is does not lose its fun.
